This specimen was lot 1423 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $402.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 5 Pesos, 1900 Cn Q. Culiacan. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Rv. Cap and Rays above scales of Justice, dagger, and scroll of laws. Scratched through left wing to rim and evidence of a mount removed. Cleaned Extremely Fine."

Recorded mintage: 1,536.

Specification: 8.46 g, 0.875 fine gold, .238 troy oz AGW.
