Mexico 1900-Go R 5 centavos
The first specimen was lot 71610 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Centavos, 1900-Go R. Guanajuato Mint. PCGS MS-66. The finer of just two examples seen at PCGS, this superb Gem presents exquisite surfaces with a cartwheel luster and subtle toning. A definite stunner that will undoubtedly dazzle." Shown is an 1900-GoR five centavos, of a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1898-1900. The Guanajuato mint was closed in 1900. This issue is one of the plentiful dates, even in nice condition. Other mints include Culiacan, Zacatecas and Mexico City.
