This specimen was lot 1430 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. 5 Pesos, 1893 Mo M. Mexico City. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. Rv. Cap and Rays above scales of Justice, dagger, and scroll of laws. A solid example of this date, with reflective fields, sharp legends and devices and problem-free surfaces. The mintage of 1,058 pieces makes this date one of the more available issues, but still scarce. Brilliant Uncirculated."
