The first specimen was lot 6201 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Alamos. 8 Reales, 1893-ML. Sharply struck. ANACS MS-64." The second specimen was lot 20524 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[2] noted, "MEXICO. Alamos. 8 Reales, 1893-AsML. NGC MS-64." The Alamos mint struck eight reales 1864-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is common in all grades.
