This specimen was lot 71296 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $1,344. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 5 Pesos, 1897-MoM. NGC MS-62. From a mintage of only 370 pieces. The 1 in the date is repunched. Very well struck with sharp design elements. Brilliant with just a light veneer of tone and quite good eye appeal."
