Mexico 1836-Go PJ 4 reales

Shown is an 1836-G^O PJ 4 reales, one of a type struck at the Guanajuato mint 1835-1870. Assayer PJ is recorded for 1834-42. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. The early dates are scarce altho this one is listed as common. An overdate, 1836/5, is reported. The eagle shown is distinctive to the Guanajuato mint, which reverted to the standard eagle in 1843.
