Shown is an 1821Z-RG half real, one of a type struck 1819-21. The "standard bust" shown of Ferdinand VII, or rather a local imitation of it, was used at the Zacatecas mint while it was in the hands of the Mexican royalists. After the surrender of the royalists in 1821, the mint was operated by the republicans until 1905. Assayer RG is recorded for the years 1820-21.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.896 fine silver, .048 troy oz ASW.
