This specimen was lot 72636 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Supreme National Congress of America. War of Independence. Copper 8 Reales, 1812. Ferdinand VII. NGC EF Details--Damaged. This insurgent issue is typically found with multiple problems. This example shows some porosity, as well as old tooling. Nonetheless, an opportunity for the Mexican Revolutionary collector." This scarce type was issued 1811-12 in Michoacan.
