The first specimen was lot 505 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $450. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, 1732F. Oddly elongated flan with 100% full and bold date and oMF, nearly full cross, Fine+ with nicely contrasting toning, plugged hole in point below shield, somewhat scarce as non-salvage. Pedigreed to the Money Co. auction of September 1985 (lot #1121)." The second specimen was lot 682 in Sedwick sale 34 (Winter Park, FL, November 2023), where it sold for $510. The catalog description[2] noted, "Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, 1732 F, PCGS XF 40. Off-center obverse with 100% full and bold date and oMF, bold full cross, flat peripheries, lightly toned, finest graded in the PCGS census and tied with two others at NGC." The third specimen was lot 73052 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Cob 8 Reales, 1732/1-Mo F. Mexico City Mint. Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Corrosion Removed, VF Details. Fully dated with the top bar of a "I" visible above the 2 in the date. From the Sydney F. Martin Collection." The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1729. They are not rare but very scarce with legible dates. This was struck in the very year of the conversion to milled coinage.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.917 fine silver, 0.798 troy oz ASW, the first specimen 26.63 grams, the second specimen 26.67 grams.
