Iran AH1332 500 dinars

Sultan Ahmad Shah, last of the Qajar dynasty, issued this 500 dinars type for AH 1331-1343. The catalog value is not particularly high but it is a seldom seen type. The variety dated on both sides (KM 1055), as shown here, is scarce. In 1931, as the result of a regime change and a coinage reform, this type was superseded by a silver half rial.
Recorded mintage: 560,000.
Specification: 2.3 g, 0.900 fine silver, .066 troy oz ASW, 18 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 1054 or KM 1055.
