India 1907(c) 1/4 rupee

from the Mountain Groan Collection

The quarter rupee struck during the Raj was about the size of a dime but contained about 12¢ of silver. All the Edward VII issues were struck at Calcutta except for a few made at Bombay in 1910.

Recorded mintage: 11,464,000 plus a few proofs.

Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, .085 troy oz ASW.
