This specimen was lot 78056 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/12 Anna, 1907-(C). Calcutta Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-64 Red." This type was struck at Calcutta 1906-10 and replaced a copper type (KM 497) of 1903-06. Sixteen annas made a rupee, so 192 of these made a rupee. There may have been a reduction in weight as well. All seem to be products of the Calcutta mint. The denomination was discontinued in 1942.
Recorded mintage: 20,985,000 plus proofs and restrikes.
Specification: 1.6 g, bronze, 17.5 mm diameter, plain edge.
