This specimen was lot 56550 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Rupee, 1906-(C). Calcutta Mint. Edward VII. PCGS MS-64." The quarter rupee struck during the Raj was about the size of a dime but contained about 12¢ of silver. All the Edward VII issues were struck at Calcutta except for a few made at Bombay in 1910.
Recorded mintage: 10,672,000 plus restrikes, a common date.
Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, .085 troy oz ASW.
