The first specimen was lot 1557 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 70 CHF (about US$84 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"GERMANY, Weimarer Republik, 3 Reichsmark 1932 A, Berlin. 100. Todestag von J. W. Goethe. FDC. Hübsche Patina. (Germany, Weimar republic, three mark of 1932, Berlin mint, centennial of the death of Goethe. Uncirculated, Attractive patina.)"

The second specimen was lot 70532 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[2] noted, "GERMANY. 3 Mark, 1932-A. NGC MS-62. Berlin mint. The smaller and more affordable version of the Goethe five mark (KM 77), struck 1932 only. Bright and lustrous." This type was issued at six mints along with a five mark (Dav-974) and is fairly common. It is the last Weimar commemorative.

Recorded mintage: 217,000 + proofs.

Specification: 15 g, 0.500 fine silver, 30 mm diameter; the first specimen 15.00 g.
