Germany 1932-G 3 mark KM-74
This specimen was lot 20536 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 3 Mark, 1932-G. PCGS PROOF-62 Secure Holder. Fully reflective in the fields with small patches of tan tone and sporadically distributed hairlines on each side. Despite its past handling, a key date and mint (Karlsruhe) for the type with a SCWC value of $6,500 in MS60, with examples in Proof such as the present piece being virtually unknown. An exciting offering thus." The SCWC notes that less than ten percent of this issue of 1931-33 was released; it is seldom seen today. This specimen is from the Karlsruhe mint and is a rare date.
Recorded mintage: 210,000.
Specification: 15 g, 0.500 fine silver, .239 troy oz ASW, 30 mm diameter.
