Sincona sale 4, lot 4644

This specimen was lot 4644 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Kaiserreich Weimarer Republik 3 Reichsmark 1931, Berlin. Zum 100. Todestag von Freiherr von Stein. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Germany, Weimar republic, three reichsmark of 1931, Berlin mint, on the centennial of the death of Baron von Stein. Extremely fine to nice extremely fine.)"

This coin is one of two commemoratives issued for 1931; the other honored the reconstruction of Magdeburg after the Thirty Year's War. Both, while scarce, are more available than the regular issue (KM 74) which was never released in large numbers.

Recorded mintage: 150,000.

Specification: 15 g, 0.500 fine silver, 30 mm diameter, .241 troy oz ASW.
