This specimen was lot 72205 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. 3 Kreuzer, 1849. Frankfurt Mint. PCGS MS-65. A beautiful Gem, this pleasing example delivers rich luster and no immediate faults." This billon type was struck 1846-56 and is common in all grades. Frankfurt was annexed to Prussia in 1866 and her coinage ended.
