This specimen was lot 74527 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Frankfurt. 2 Gulden, 1848. Frankfurt Mint. Free City. PCGS MS-63. Vibrant underlying luster amplifies the soft pastel tones and bold originality." This type was struck 1845-56 and is fairly common. Frankfurt was annexed to Prussia in 1866 and her coinage ended.
