This mezzo baiocco was struck in 1721 for Innocent XIII (1721-24) at the Ferrara mint. The city, an independent duchy until 1598, struck silver and copper coins for the popes until 1756. This type is scarce and this specimen would be valuable in uncorroded condition.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rather scarce.
