This mezzo grosso was struck during the reign of Innocent XIII (1721-24). It is undated. Another mezzo grosso was issued in 1721 to honor the Lateran palace (KM-776). The mezzo grosso was 2½ baiocchi or one fortieth of a scudo. Many varieties were issued in the 1720's.
