This specimen was lot 1483 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Clement XI, 1700-1721, AE ½ baiocco, Ferrara, ND-XIX (1719). VF." This mezzo baiocco was struck in 1719-20 for Clement XI (1700-21) at the Ferrara mint. The city, an independent duchy until 1598, struck silver and copper coins for the popes until 1756. This type is scarce.
