Denmark 1620 2 kroneskilling KM-69
This specimen was lot 10134 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €145 (about US$151). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. 2 Kroneskilling, 1620. Christian IV. NGC AU Details--Bent. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Johan G. Guildal Collection (Private Sale - 1918)." Another two skilling struck in 1620 has a "72" on the reverse (KM 80.1), indicating the new value of 1/72 speciedaler. We don't know if this was intended to pass at that value or the old value of 1/48 speciedaler. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 0.52 g, 0.859 fine silver.
