Denmark 1619 krone Dav-3517
This specimen was lot 10110 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €240 (about US$250). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Krone, 1619. Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC VF Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)." This type was struck 1619-22 with various mintmarks and varieties and was worth 3/4 speciedaler. "· R · F · P ·" is not a mintmark but the king's motto, "REGNA FIRMAT PIETAS". Christian IV (r. 1588-1648) had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 18.91 g, 0.859 fine silver, 39.5 mm diameter, this specimen 18.18 g.
