This specimen was lot 10189 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €264 (about US$275). The catalog description[1] noted, "DENMARK. Hvid, ND. (1618-1619). Copenhagen Mint. Christian IV. NGC AU-58. Nice lustrous appearance for type. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This undated type was struck with a clover mintmark (KM 63.2) or cross daggers mintmark (KM 63.1, shown here). It was worth 1/192 speciedaler. Christian IV (r. 1588-1648), king of Denmark and duke of Schleswig-Holstein, had a long but only moderately successful reign. His war with Sweden and his intervention in the Thirty Years War were costly and brought little gain.
