This specimen was lot 40316 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1873 Peso. Medellín mint. MS-62 (PCGS). Highly lustrous and attractive, with rose and orange highlights over both sides. A scarce issue, particularly in nice grade. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins." This type was struck at Medellin 1872-73 along with a gold peso with a shield reverse (KM 156). An 1873/2 overdate exists and is listed as cheaper than the regular date.
