Colombia 1873-M 10 pesos
This specimen was lot 1646 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1,035. The catalog description[1] noted,
"1873 10 pesos. Medellin mint. AU-58 (NGC). Head of Liberty to left, legends and stars around, date below/arms, legends around, mint below. Lustrous yellow gold with traces of orange toning. Minor planchet imperfection at central reverse. A very nice piece. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942."
This type was struck at Medellin 1873-76 and is the most available ten pesos of the nineteenth century Colombian issues.
