Colombia 1872-M 5 decimos
The first specimen was lot 1388 in Sedwick sale 12 (Winter Park, FL, October 2012), where it sold for $177. The catalog description[1] noted, "Medellin, Colombia, 5 decimos, 1872, ex-Lozano. Well-struck AU- with light rose toning, slightly grainy surfaces (no luster), rare grade for this type. Pedigreed to the Alberto Lozano Villegas collection (Numismaticos Colombianos auction of November 2000, lot #57)." This type was issued 1872-73 under the new decimal system of 100 centavos = 1 peso. The denomination is written as '5 DECIMOS'. The later, more common type of 1874-85 used a slightly different bust.
