Aureo y Calicó sale 423, lot 1699

This specimen was lot 1699 in Aureo y Calicó sale 423 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 250 € (about US$324 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1807. Carlos IV. Santiago. FJ. 1 real. Graded NGC as XF Details Bent, no. 2892735-013. Dings. Flan distorted by coinage. Some of its original luster. Great example. Not included on la collection of 1 real, Aureo 03/05/2003. Ex Isabel Trastámara Collection 10/29/2015, no. 157. Ex Medina Collection. Val and Mexía Collection. Very rare like this. MBC+/EBC- [very fine to extremely fine]." This type was struck at Santiago 1792-1808 in limited numbers and, tho not common, is much less rare than preceding types.

Recorded mintage: 23,000 including a 1807/6 overdate.
