This specimen was lot 47118 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg. 2 Mariengroschen, 1675. Johann Friedrich. PCGS MS-63." This coin, the smallest silver denomination, seems to have been struck with this design in 1675 only. Another two mariengroschen (KM 105), with a Wildman reverse, is common. Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg and Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle were traded back and forth between brothers until death left only one, who became the elector of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover ("Hannover" for short) and later king of England.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
