Bolivia 1808 2 reales rev DSLR.jpg

This is an example of a type struck 1791-1808 at Potosi, Bolivia (then called Upper Peru). It is the final date of its type and was replaced that year by the bust of Ferdinand VII. Harris[1] notes that Potosi two reales of Charles IV are the second commonest mint after Mexico City. The specimen shown is slightly double struck on the obverse; it is uncertain if this is caused by die bounce or if it is a true doubled die.

Recorded mintage: 203,000 (including KM 83).

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.896 fine silver, .195 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: Cayón-13685, KM 71.
