This specimen was lot 667 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1751 E. Chunky flan with full pillars containing complete date and assayer on 'flat' side, nearly full cross with second date on bulging other side, VF details with patchy dark toning (but no corrosion)." This type was struck for Ferdinand VI 1747-60. This is the less common of the two assayers listed for the date, "E" and "q". By this date, Mexico, Santiago and Lima were striking pillar dollars.
