Sincona sale 100, lot 1152

This specimen was lot 1152 in Sincona Auction 100 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 7,500 CHF (about US$11,304 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Dicken 1621, Basel. Klippe im ca. eineinhalbfachen Gewicht. + MONETA ¨ NOVA ¨ BASILIENSIS ¨ Baslerwappen in einem lilienverzierten Vierpass. Rv. ¨ DOMINE ¨ CONSERVA ¨ NOS ¨ IN ¨ PACE Nimbierter Doppeladler. Basler Dicken des Jahrgangs 1621 existieren nur in Klippenform; runde Exemplare sind nicht bekannt. Von grosser Seltenheit. Gutes sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, klippe dicken of 1621, Bern mint, about 50% heavier than standard. Obverse: Basel arms in a quadrilobe decorated with lilies; reverse: nimbate double headed eagle. Basel dickens of the year 1621 exist only in klippe format; round examples are not known. Of high rarity, Good Very Fine.)"

The round dicken (KM 82) is known for 1623 and 1632-36. One dicken was 24 kreuzer.
