Sincona sale 102, lot 5041

This specimen was lot 5041 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$2,110 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Basel, Stadt und Kanton, Halbdicken 1621, Basel. Selten. Fast sehr schön. (Switzerland, canton of Basel, half dicken of 1621, Basel mint. Rare, About Very Fine.)"

A dicken was 24 kreuzer (4/15 thaler) so half a dicken was twelve kreuzer. Indeed, this coin is called a zwolfer ("twelver") in the SCWC.
