Bern 1621 dicken KM-12
This specimen was lot 4115 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 2,200 CHF (about US$3,049 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, Dicken 1621, Bern. Geschweiftes Wappen. Rv. Nimbierter Doppeladler. Sehr selten. Schön-sehr schön. Kratzer auf der Rückseite. (Switzerland, canton of Bern, dicken of 1621, Bern mint. Obverse: ornate arms, reverse: nimbate double headed eagle. Very rare, Fine-Very Fine, Scratches on reverse.)"
This type was struck 1617-21 along with another dicken with a cross on the reverse (KM 21). The reverse legend, "+BERCHT:DVX:ZERIN:FVND", likely refers to Berthold V, last duke of Zähringen (r. 1186-1218).
