The first specimen was lot 529 in Soler y Llach's January, 2010, sale where it sold for 135 euros (about US$230 with buyers' fees). The catalog description noted, "OCUPACIÓN NAPOLEÓNICA de CATALUNYA. 1 Peseta. 1811. BARCELONA. MBC (French occupation of Catalonia, peseta of 1811, Barcelona mint, Very Fine)."

The second specimen shown was lot 261 in Aureo y Calicó sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 550 euros (about US$907 with buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"Dominación Francesa. 1811. Barcelona. 1 peseta. Bella. Brillo original. Rara así. EBC/EBC+. (French occupation, one peseta of 1811, beautiful original luster, rare thus, extremely fine.)

This silver coin was issued from Barcelona during the French occupation for use there and in Catalonia. It was struck 1809-14 and accompanied by a silver two and a half pesetas and five pesetas, the first coins denominated in pesetas. In the local currency, five pesetas = one peso. This coin is not common. The last local Catalan issue is a rare six quartos dated 1848.

Recorded mintage: unknown but this is the most common date.
