Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 2833

This specimen was lot 2833 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 25 € (about US$33 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1811. Fernando VII. Cádiz. CI. 2 reales. Ceca grande. Rayita. Parte de brillo original. MBC [large date, scratch, part of the mint luster remaining, very fine]." This two reales was struck at the Cadiz mint 1810-12 where, supported by the British navy, the juntas supporting Ferdinand VII managed to hold out against the French invader. Other two reales with the "C" mintmark were struck at Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.
