Sincona sale 90, lot 1649

This specimen was lot 1649 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,745 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1867 B, Kremnitz. Selten. NGC MS63. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1867, Kremnitz mint. Rare.)"

This type was struck 1867-72 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz (shown here) and Karlsburg ("E"). This is a common date.

Recorded mintage: 112,000.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 19.8 mm diameter, this specimen 3.48 g.
