Sincona sale 18, lot 3122

This specimen was lot 3122 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 900 (about US$1,186 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Doppelter Vereinstaler 1867. Wien. Vorzüglich. (Austria, double union thaler of 1867, extremely fine.)"

This scarce type was struck 1866-67 only and represents the last of the denomination.

Recorded mintage: 8,300.

Specification: 37.04 g, 0.900 fine silver, 41 mm diameter, lettered edge, this specimen 37.04 g.
