Sincona sale 90, lot 1647

This specimen was lot 1647 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 450 CHF (about US$604 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1866 A, Wien. Vorzüglich. Berieben. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1866, Vienna mint. Extremely fine, Slightly polished.)"

This type was struck 1866 only at Vienna (shown here), Kremnitz ("B"), Karlsburg ("E") and Venice ("V"). This is a common date.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 19.8 mm diameter, this specimen 3.48 g.
