Künker sale 406, lot 3879

This specimen was lot 3879 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz I. 1804-1835. Dukat 1826, B, Kremnitz. 3,44 g Feingold. GOLD. Vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1804-35, ducat of 1826, Kremnitz mint. Extremely fine.)"

This ducat was struck for Francis I 1825-31 at three mints, including Kremnitz (shown here). Altho produced in Hungary, this type is listed with Austria as the standard Austrian design was used. This is noted as a slightly better date.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold.
