from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70191

This specimen was lot 70191 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1826-B. Kremnitz Mint. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. From a type struck 1824-30. Traces of adjustment marks on the reverse. Good strike with light attractive tone and strong underlying luster." This type was struck 1824-30 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B"), Günzburg ("G") and Karlsburg ("E") but is not rare. Thalers were struck to this weight standard until 1852.

Recorded mintage: 269,000.
