Sincona sale 39, lot 4169

This specimen was lot 4169 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 120 CHF (about US$144 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"AUSTRIA, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835 Taler 1823 C. Prag. Vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1792-1835, thaler of 1823, Prague mint. Extremely fine.)"

This thaler was issued 1817-24 from six mints and is common. This one likely circulated in Bohemia.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a slightly better date.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 28.04 g.
