Austria 1760 thaler Dav-1121
The first specimen was lot 1533 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €240 (about US$310 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Konv.-Taler 1760, Hall. Feine Patina, vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, convention thaler of 1760, Hall mint. Toned, extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 40544 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[2] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1760. Hall Mint. Maria Theresa. PCGS MS-63. From the Helena Collection." The type was struck 1751-65 and is fairly common. The first years (1751-53) were struck to the standard of 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver.
