Sincona sale 59, lot 1888

This specimen was lot 1888 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Ferdinand II. 1618-1637. 2 Taler 1632, Graz. Aus 1626 auf 1630 und dann auf 1632 umgeschnitten. Gutes vorzüglich. Herrliche Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, double thaler of 1632, Graz mint, 1632/30/26 overdate. Good extremely fine, Most attractively toned.)"

This type was struck 1625-26, 1630 and 1632. The 1632 was likely a last minute afterthought, hence the double overdate on the die.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 57.22 g.

Catalog reference: KM 607, Herinek 309. Dav-3107.
