This specimen was lot 3386 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 8,500 CHF (about US$11,376 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "OSTERREICH, Ferdinand II. 1619-1637. Dukat 1631/29, Graz. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1629 geändert. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung (Austria, Ferdinand II, 1619-37, ducat of 1631, Graz mint, 1631/29 overdate. Very rare in this condition). NGC MS63*." This type of 1623-33 was one of several ducats struck for Ferdinand II; others include KM 274 (Vienna mint) and KM 275 (Prague mint). 1631 was the year when Wallenstein's power reached its peak.
