Austria 1632 10 ducats Fr-131a
This specimen was lot 21014 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. 10 Ducats, 1632. Sankt Veit, Without Mintmark. EXTREMELY RARE and Possibly Unique Austrian 10 Ducats. Ferdinand II (1619-37). EXTREMELY RARE and possibly unique presentation piece struck from dies intended for a silver Taler of the Dav-3124. NGC AU Details--Edge Filing." St. Veit used this design to strike twelve ducats (Fr-129), ten ducats (shown here), nine ducats (Fr-132), eight ducats (Fr-133) and six ducats (Fr-136) in 1632. The Graz mint emitted a very similar series (Fr-127, -128, -130, -134, -135, -139). All are rare.
