Sincona sale 38, lot 1795

This specimen was lot 1795 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 110,000 CHF (about US$131,923 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Ferdinand III. 1637-1657 10 Dukaten 1638. Prag Münzmeister Jakob Wernhard Wolker. Von grösster Seltenheit. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, ten ducats of 1638, Prague mint. Of the highest rarity. Extremely fine.)"

This rare type is listed in the SCWC under Bohemia for 1638-40. The succeeding type (KM 460) added a laurel wreath on the emperor's head. The Prague mint struck this denomination nearly every year until 1675.
