This specimen was lot 328 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €4,000 (about US$5,189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II. 1592-1618-1637. Reichstaler 1632, Graz. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 62 (6862143-004). Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Kabinettstück. Feine Patina, fast Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1632, Graz mint. Graded NGC MS62, very scarce in this quality, cabinet piece, fine patina, about uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1630-36 at Graz and is one of the more common thalers of the period. This one is expensive because of its condition. An 1632/1 overdate is reported.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.
