Künker sale 406, lot 4582
Sincona sale 97, lot 1970

The first specimen was lot 4582 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,575 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Josef I. 1705-1711. 1/2 Reichstaler o. J. Hall. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 63 (6643509-011). Sehr attraktives Exemplar, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Austria, Joseph I, 1705-11, undated half thaler, Hall mint. Graded NGC MS-63, very attractive example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 1970 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$870 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Joseph I. 1705-1711. 1/2 Taler o. J., Hall. Walzenprägung. Vorzüglich-FDC. Winziger Randfehler. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph I, 1705-11, undated half thaler, Hall mint, rotated reverse. About Uncirculated, Tiny edge flaw.)"

This undated and rather scarce half thaler seems to be the only issue of this denomination during Joseph's brief reign.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, the first specimen 14.34 g, the second specimen 14.55 g.
