Sincona sale 39, lot 3967

This specimen was lot 3967 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 600 CHF (about US$720 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Joseph I. 1705-1711 Taler 1706. Graz. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Joseph I, 1705-11, thaler of 1706, Graz mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type is noted from Graz for 1706 only, tho it is fairly common. Thalers for 1706 include KM 1436/Dav-1032, KM 1438.1/Dav-1018, KM 1444/Dav-1013, and KM 1464/Dav-1015 (shown here).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver; this specimen is 28.57 g.
